1876 Cape Cod Collection Red Sugar Bowl AA18-1249 Vintage Square AVON
The Boston & Sandwich Glass Works, founded on Cape Cod in 1825, was famous for its Pressed Glass with elaborate, Lacy designs, fine stippling and sparkling brilliance. So popular where these sandwich pieces that the name became a generic term for Pressed Glass.
One of these lacy designs,” Roman Rosette,” was the inspiration for the splendid collection by Avon. Its name commemorates the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition where the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence was celebrated, as well as the area where Sandwich Glass originated.
