1890’s Ornate Brass Banquet Lamp, Painted Globe, Removable Font, 26″ Tall, Electrified, Victorian Table Lamp

• This is a stunning, ornate banquet lamp from the 1890’s Era! The lamp features a brass stem, vase, and base with detailed and ornate decoration throughout. A portion of the stem is a pewter-colored metal alloy, or spelter.The brass font (or fount) is the removable kind. It has an ornate, embossed filler cap. It has a thumb-wheel mounted to the font. The top is highly embellished with decorative design. The brass vase is extremely ornate. The shape is also very decorative and unique. The base is brass, with an added alloy to give it more strength and stability. Thus, it has a slightly different tone to the color.This antique lamp has a glass ball globe with appears to have a hand-painted floral design on one side, with a yellow and orange flower design on the white milk glass shade.

There is a clear glass chimney.
At some point over the decades, this Victorian oil lamp was electrified. A turn switch was inserted in the base, and underneath, you can see a small “Gilbert” device mounted. My hunch was this was electrified in the 1930’s-40’s based upon the Art Deco style hard plastic plug, but that is only a guess.

I could not find a makers mark, so it is unknown if this is a Miller, Parker, Bradley & Hubbard, Juno, Plume & Atwood, or some other brand from the era. Such an ornate, magnificent banquet lamp surely would have been only in a wealthy Victorian parlor or dining room. The lamp works well, and would look great in any home or office.

The lamp measures approx. 25 1/2″ tall from base to top of chimney, 24″ tall to top of globe, and 13″ tall to bottom of globe. The base is approx. 7″ x 7″. The globe is approx. 10″ in diameter. It weighs approx. 8 pounds. There is a small chip on the globe.
